CALL FOR PAPERS
“Valuing Analysis”
2011 Indiana University Symposium of Research in Music Theory
Bloomington, Indiana
February 18-19, 2011
The Indiana University Graduate Theory Association announces our 2011 Symposium of Research in Music Theory to take place Friday and Saturday, February 18 and 19. This year’s theme is analysis.
We are currently soliciting proposals for analytical papers and presentations. Papers may engage any musical repertoire, as we hope to feature a wide variety. We especially encourage papers whose primary focus is analysis and interpretation of musical works rather than breaking new theoretical ground.
Paper presentations will be twenty minutes in length, followed by ten minutes for questions. We also encourage the submission of posters, special panels, and non-traditional formats for presentations. The deadline for proposals is Friday, December 3. Only electronic submissions will be considered.
Submissions should include:
1. A 500-word proposal submitted by email in Word or PDF format to ckeele [at] indiana [dot] edu. No identifying information may be included in the proposal.
2. A cover letter listing the author's name, address, telephone number, email address, and affiliation, as well as all required equipment, such as piano, projector, CD player, etc.
3. An abstract of no more than 250 words, suitable for publication in the conference program.
